Job Summary

BronxWorks is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activity Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our social services team, you will play a vital role in facilitating group activities and providing support to clients in their efforts to end homelessness.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging group activities that promote education, counseling, and support for clients.
  • Build relationships with external organizations to recruit experts and presenters for group activities.
  • Organize bi-monthly field trips that are educational and/or recreational.
  • Coordinate group services facilitated by outside organizations.
  • Document all group activities, including sign-in sheets and progress notes.
  • Communicate client-related issues with direct supervisors and social services staff.
  • Maintain familiarity with program resources available on- and off-site.
  • Participate in regular case conferences with clients and service providers.
  • Complete program reports on a monthly basis.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Valid driver's license with less than 3 violation points in the last 3 years preferred.
  • Bilingual in English-Spanish preferred.
  • Evening hours required.
  • CASAC certification preferred.
  • Past recreational experience in a shelter setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required for home visits and/or fieldwork.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
