Reliability Policy Manager

Job Summary

The Reliability Policy Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of CPS Energy's power systems. This position serves as the subject matter expert in power systems engineering and planning, generation performance, system protection and metering, and all reliability and engineering aspects of the ERCOT stakeholder process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and participate in ERCOT stakeholder meetings and working groups to advocate for CPS Energy's interests and positions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop policy direction on reliability and engineering issues.
  • Contribute to the development of protocol and regulatory comments, and legislative bill analysis.
  • Act as an ERCOT reliability and engineering subject matter expert on internal project teams.
  • Track, analyze, and engage in planning and engineering activities and policy proposals at ERCOT and the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT).
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, Computer Science or related quantitative discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Extensive knowledge of ERCOT stakeholder and PUCT processes, knowledge of ERCOT Protocols, PUCT substantive rules, and PURA.
  • General understanding of resource adequacy concepts and risks as they relate to the ERCOT market, PUC market design efforts, and the general energy transition related to power supply decarbonization.
  • Demonstrated well-developed written and verbal communications skills for interaction within the section, across departmental lines to all levels of personnel, and vertically with management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer.
  • Master's Degree from an accredited university in a quantitative field.
  • Relevant experience in an operational, system planning, system engineering, compliance, or regulatory analysis capacity.
Work Environment

Work is performed indoors. Operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Ability to travel to and from meetings in San Antonio and Austin, training sessions or other business related events.
