Position Summary:

The Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in supporting pharmaceutical services by managing the stocking, assembly, and distribution of medications. This position involves the preparation of pharmaceutical products under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processes medication orders and prescriptions efficiently.
  • Assists pharmacists with complex batch preparations following established formulas.
  • Accurately fills containers with prescribed medications, including tablets and capsules.
  • Collaborates with pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications.
  • Utilizes appropriate techniques for the storage, preparation, and dispensing of medicinal products.
  • Adheres to pharmacy policies regarding medication preparation, labeling, and controlled substances management.
  • Contributes to the procurement of pharmaceuticals and necessary supplies.
  • Maintains a clean and organized environment within the pharmacy, ensuring the cleanliness of stock and supplies.
  • Restocks shelves and racks with inventory.
  • Collects and disposes of empty containers or rejected items.
  • Receives and organizes incoming supplies, conducting inventory counts and maintaining accurate records in the computer system.
  • Ensures equipment is cleaned and glassware is sterilized according to established protocols.

Qualifications and Educational Background:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Proficient in using computers and office technology.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to identify defective products.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Must possess a valid license as a Registered Pharmacy Technician in the applicable state.

Physical Demands:

  • Capability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds, including moving and carrying boxes.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Fine motor skills for precise tasks.
  • Visual acuity for detailed work.
