  • Coordinate and present to the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) community.
  • Travel nationally to support project sites and AEC events, with occasional international travel for supply chain development.
  • Assist regional offices in pursuing mass timber projects, including necessary travel.
  • Contribute to research and development initiatives and create technical marketing materials.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for projects and provide structural engineering support for both ongoing and awarded projects.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of temporary construction methods for mass timber installations.
  • Develop and publish articles on industry trends and structural engineering advancements.
  • Analyze various structural systems during the feasibility and design phases.
  • Support preconstruction efforts through design and shop drawing phases.
  • Collaborate with the Virtual Design and Construction (VD&C) team to produce necessary drawings and documents.
  • Manage and mentor junior engineering staff and support personnel.
  • Assist in the creation of cost models and procurement strategies for mass timber projects.
  • Lead preconstruction strategy meetings to discuss structural design approaches and cost estimates.
  • Evaluate potential risks and communicate findings to senior management.
  • Review documents for constructability and value analysis.
  • Participate in proposal preparations for new business opportunities.
  • Utilize cost control systems effectively.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 15 years of structural design experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience in timber structural design, including supervisory roles.
  • Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering preferred.
  • Completion of timber design coursework is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration is mandatory; Structural Engineer (SE) registration is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of mass timber design experience.
  • Proficient understanding of US structural design codes, including timber, steel, and concrete.
  • Experience with drafting software such as Revit.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Solid grasp of structural engineering principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Basic knowledge of contract law and project accounting.
