Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Lead Teacher to join our 4K program at the Goodman Community Center. As a key member of our childcare team, you will be responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for young children aged 3-5 years.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Design and implement weekly lesson plans that support developmentally appropriate practice and align with our program goals.
  • Classroom Management: Ensure a safe and healthy environment, both indoors and outdoors, that is child-centered, intentionally planned, and adequately resourced.
  • Culturally Inclusive Classroom: Create a culturally inclusive classroom with activities that support diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Child Development: Observe interactions with children, work with staff on positive language, effective behavior management, and problem-solving with preschool-age children.
  • Communication: Maintain daily, open communication with parents and work with the teaching team to ensure all families receive regular updates on their child's growth and successes.
  • Administrative Tasks: Complete required paperwork, participate in parent conferences, and attend staff meetings and professional development sessions.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Hold an Early Childhood license or an Elementary Education license that includes prekindergarten or kindergarten in the grade levels of the license.
  • Registry Requirements: Meet the Early Childhood Registry requirements for one of the following levels: Levels 10-14.
  • Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge of resources in and around the Madison area, including resources for childcare programs, and experience working with staff and families from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Additional Requirements: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and willingness to drive a 15-passenger van with children as passengers.
