About the Role:
The City of Asheville is looking for dedicated candidates for the position of full-time Client Support Specialist I within the Water Department. This role is essential for executing various clerical tasks and engaging with the public, providing vital administrative assistance to a City department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to phone inquiries regarding policies, guidelines, procedures, services, payments, and more as they relate to the City's operations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for in-person customers, addressing inquiries and offering guidance on city services, including water bill payments and development permits.
  • Establish, modify, or terminate services based on customer account requirements.
  • Conduct general office tasks, including data entry into software systems.
  • Research information on relevant websites.
  • Clarify fees, policies, and regulations related to the department and City services.
  • Process service adjustments, including claims for high water bills.
  • Perform general office duties, including data entry in multiple software systems and utilizing copy and fax machines.
  • May handle payment processing for accounts using payment software and related systems, ensuring accurate balancing of receipts at the end of the day.
  • Provide backup cashier duties, assisting walk-in customers with payments and various water-related inquiries.
  • Investigate account issues and manage special assignments as necessary.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

  • Bilingual in another language is preferred but not mandatory.
