About the Role:
The City of Asheville is looking for dedicated candidates for the position of full-time Client Support Specialist I within the Water Department. This role is essential for executing various clerical tasks and engaging with the public, providing vital administrative assistance to a City department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to phone inquiries regarding policies, guidelines, procedures, services, payments, and more as they relate to the City's operations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for in-person customers, addressing inquiries and offering guidance on city services, including water bill payments and development permits.
- Establish, modify, or terminate services based on customer account requirements.
- Conduct general office tasks, including data entry into software systems.
- Research information on relevant websites.
- Clarify fees, policies, and regulations related to the department and City services.
- Process service adjustments, including claims for high water bills.
- Perform general office duties, including data entry in multiple software systems and utilizing copy and fax machines.
- May handle payment processing for accounts using payment software and related systems, ensuring accurate balancing of receipts at the end of the day.
- Provide backup cashier duties, assisting walk-in customers with payments and various water-related inquiries.
- Investigate account issues and manage special assignments as necessary.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Full-time position with access to a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and life insurance options.
- Enrollment in the North Carolina Pension and NC 401K retirement plans with company matching.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- One year of technical training in budgeting software, Google platforms, MUNIS, and related computer programs.
- Some experience in customer service; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.
- Bilingual in another language is preferred but not mandatory.
