Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the position of Deputy Sheriff. As a Deputy Sheriff, you will be responsible for enforcing local, state, and federal laws, protecting the citizens of Dougherty County, and upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce laws and regulations to maintain public safety and order
  • Protect citizens and property from harm
  • Investigate crimes and gather evidence
  • Testify in court as needed
  • Participate in training and professional development to stay up-to-date on laws and procedures
Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must:

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be currently certified as a Peace Officer by the Georgia P.O.S.T. Council or be able to become certified within six months of employment
  • Have a valid Georgia Driver's License
  • Be proficient in Microsoft suite computer programs
  • Have some knowledge of state/local laws and the County geographical area and road system
Preferred Qualifications

While not required, having the following qualifications will make you a stronger candidate:

  • Experience in law enforcement or a related field
  • Training or certification in areas such as crisis management, first aid, or emergency response
  • Fluency in Spanish or other languages
