Job Title: Health Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Health Coordinator will provide medical support to students participating in the GEAR UP Lumberjack Leadership Summit. This includes administering medications, monitoring student health, and responding to medical emergencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer morning, midday/afternoon, and evening medications in office during established times
  • Document all medications administered
  • Attend administrative meetings as requested
  • Promote student and staff sensitivity to students with special needs
  • Administer requested over-the-counter medications as needed
  • Document all medications administered
  • In the event of a medical emergency, work with the NAU Health & Learning Center, local providers, and appropriate staff members to coordinate rapid response and transportation
  • Chart actions taken
  • Complete/process Concern/Incident/Medical Report Forms as needed
  • Call and confer with parents of students experiencing medical difficulty as requested by program administrators
  • Secure the Director's approval for any and all expenditures and submit receipts to the Fiscal Operations Assistant for authorized charges

Requirements:

  • Review all student applications for medical information and cross-reference to excel spreadsheet of all students' insurance information, medical needs, prescription dosages and times, over-the-counter medicine approvals, allergies, and special instructions
  • Review and update as needed the Concern/Incident/Medical Report Form
  • Prepare a Log/Chart for tracking/documenting all prescription and p.r.n. medications administered to students during the Program
  • Inventory supplies on hand and prepare list of needed OTC meds and first aid supplies
  • Work with the Manager to finalize procedures and policies for administration of medicines and medical attention
  • Establish a system for staff to log in name of medication, time administered, and dosage they administer
  • Assist the Manager to review and update protocol for handling medical emergencies
  • Prepare/stock first-aid kits for the residence halls, classrooms, and field trips as needed

Work Environment:

The Health Coordinator will work on the NAU Flagstaff Mountain campus during the one-week summer program.

Education and Experience:

A bachelor's degree in a related field and experience in healthcare or a related field are preferred.
