Job Overview:

The C-Store Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the store manager to ensure efficient operations that align with company policies. This position is vital for maximizing revenue, enhancing customer satisfaction, controlling expenses, and driving profitability. The Assistant Manager is also tasked with assisting in the recruitment, training, and retention of high-quality staff, ensuring that the store remains clean, well-stocked, and prepared for business at all times.

Customer satisfaction is paramount; therefore, it is essential that all team members provide exceptional service and demonstrate appreciation for our patrons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arrive on time for scheduled shifts as approved by the Store Manager, including working at least two nights weekly.
  • Wear the designated uniform with name badge during shifts.
  • Execute all general shift responsibilities as trained and complete specific tasks assigned by the Area Manager.
  • Manage operations in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal beverage regulations.
  • Deliver prompt and courteous service to every customer.
  • Guide and assist store staff in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, aiming for a monthly inspection score of at least 90%.
  • Complete required RTO training.
  • Ensure cleanliness in all areas, including restrooms, parking lots, trash receptacles, fuel islands, and customer service areas.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train new employees.
  • Oversee daily departmental workflow.
  • Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.
  • Manage employee discipline and terminations in line with company policy.
  • Perform additional related duties as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to cash handling procedures.
  • Accountable for accurate and timely bank deposits.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically fit and able to stand for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to work in a cooler at 35 degrees for up to 30 minutes.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Visual acuity to verify identification and process transactions.
  • Tolerance for gas fumes and cleaning agents.
  • Capability to climb ladders for window cleaning.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies, including using a fire extinguisher.
  • Basic math skills at an eighth-grade level.
  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken, for effective communication with customers.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Work Schedule Expectations:

  • Assistant Managers are hourly employees expected to work the necessary days and hours to fulfill job requirements.
  • Typically, Assistant Managers will work five days a week, including weekends when the Store Manager is off.
  • If performance expectations are not met, the Assistant Manager may be required to work a minimum of six days until standards are achieved.
