Job Summary

The Retention Peer Mentor will support the success of recruitment and retention programs at Weber State University. This role will involve visiting schools and other locations for recruitment, offering assistance and a listening ear to students, and developing, moderating, and leading participation in bi-weekly meetings/programs related to student success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support student success through outreach and mentoring
  • Develop and lead programs to enhance student engagement and retention
  • Collaborate with the College Success Team to achieve program goals
  • Provide excellent communication and listening skills to facilitate effective mentoring meetings
  • Represent the Moyes College of Education in a positive and professional manner
Requirements
  • 2.5 GPA or higher
  • Full-time enrollment (12 credits or more)
  • Moyes College of Education undergraduate student (working towards first degree)
  • Completed at least one semester at WSU
  • Ability to work effectively with historically underrepresented students
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Work study experience
  • Completed FAFSA
  • Participated in concurrent enrollment
  • Experience mentoring and/or motivating others
Working Conditions

This is a sedentary role that requires sitting most of the time. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
