Compensation:
- School Food Services Manager I, WF-06: $5,082.23 per month
- School Food Services Manager II, F1-06: $5,411.87 per month
- School Food Services Manager III, F2-06: $5,761.06 per month
- School Food Services Manager IV, F3-06: $6,133.81 per month
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with school leadership and the School Food Service Branch to formulate and implement plans for effective service, equipment, facilities, and operations.
- Oversee and manage daily food service operations; assess and modify internal procedures as necessary.
- Establish and uphold high standards of quality control for food production and distribution; supervise the preparation of approved menus and recipes while ensuring compliance with USDA meal pattern requirements; adjust menus to meet the dietary needs of students.
- Engage in the recruitment and selection process for food service personnel; plan, direct, schedule, and evaluate the performance of staff; may also oversee students assigned to assist in the kitchen and dining areas.
- Provide training and orientation to food service staff on proper work practices, methods, and equipment operations in line with current safety and sanitation regulations; ensure staff meet annual training requirements as outlined by the USDA.
- Estimate and procure food and supplies to fulfill menu requirements and coordinate the receipt and storage of goods.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, daily financial reports, and other related documentation, either manually or with computer assistance.
- Ensure cost-effectiveness; monitor and control expenditures while maintaining the assigned budget; review and approve invoices for payment.
- Conduct daily inspections of kitchen, dining areas, and food service facilities to ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Schedule and supervise the maintenance and repair of kitchen equipment.
- May coordinate satellite food service operations, including the preparation, scheduling, and supervision of personnel involved in food delivery and service.
- Participate in staff meetings and training workshops; maintain required certifications and complete annual training hours as mandated by the USDA.
Education Requirement: High school graduation or equivalent.
Experience Requirements: Applicants must possess progressively responsible work experience as detailed below:
- School Food Services Manager I: 2 years of experience
- School Food Services Manager II: 2 years of experience
- School Food Services Manager III: 3 years of experience
- School Food Services Manager IV: 4 years of experience
General Experience: Experience in food preparation, including quantity cooking, menu planning, fiscal recordkeeping, and food supply management.
Specialized Experience: Management experience in food services within a school or institution, including oversight of daily operations, compliance with regulations, and supervision of staff.
Supervisory Aptitude: Demonstrated potential for supervisory responsibilities through relevant assignments or training.
Certification Requirement: Valid food handlers training level certification from an accredited organization.
Application Requirements: Applicants must meet all qualifications for the position they are applying for. Experience calculations are based on full-time, 40-hour workweeks. Part-time experience is pro-rated.
