Job Overview

As the Master Scheduler, you will be instrumental in directing the scheduling and planning activities for designated production lines and customer segments. Your primary goals will be to fulfill customer delivery expectations while maximizing operational effectiveness.

This position will act as the vital connection among the purchasing, planning, and operations teams, ensuring smooth coordination and compliance with the established schedule. The Master Scheduler will be directly responsible for improving the company's financial and delivery performance by concentrating on scheduling efficiency, inventory turnover (ROI) enhancement, and accuracy in inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate monthly Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings, considering plant capacity and demand forecasts.
  • Monitor monthly forecasting discrepancies by selected customers to drive enhancements in planning methodologies and ensure appropriate allocation in MRP planning.
  • Oversee the Supply Chain schedule for new product introductions and phase-out management for specific customer/product categories.
  • Develop long-term machine and labor capacity models, along with short-term fixed production plans to meet total customer demand and on-time delivery objectives.
  • Maintain and enhance the ratio of inventory (ROI) targets across Work In Progress (WIP) and Finished Goods (FG) production items, integrating inventory strategies throughout the organization.
  • Create and sustain production scheduling tools (ERP and other systems) to ensure data integrity related to production and inventory, including Bill of Materials (BOM) and routing management.
  • Engage with production, customer service, and purchasing teams regularly to promote improvements in the production planning process.
  • Establish and update the scheduling system in ERP consistently.
  • Verify the schedule against the status of required materials, tools, artwork, and equipment to confirm that production can proceed as planned.
  • Maintain regular communication with customer service and supervisors regarding new jobs that may necessitate schedule adjustments to accommodate customer requirements.
  • Accelerate operations that hinder schedules and modify schedules to address unforeseen circumstances.
  • Implement lean principles through participation in Kaizen events, improvement initiatives, and lean projects to support corporate goals.
  • Ensure adherence to 5S standards through ongoing sustainment activities.
  • Lead value stream mapping initiatives for designated production areas to identify inventory/process stagnation, establish standard store targets, and enhance overall lead time.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Supply Chain preferred) or a minimum of 7 years of experience in production planning/scheduling.
  • Demonstrated experience in production planning, demand planning, and capacity planning within a manufacturing context.
  • Capability in process flow mapping and relevant knowledge.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Publisher, and scheduling within ERP systems (IFS, Dynamics AX, Oracle, SAP).
  • Aptitude for learning specialized software programs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a solid ability to follow instructions.
  • Extensive product/process knowledge.
  • Proven organizational abilities.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to change.
  • Capacity to positively influence others and collaborate effectively with various levels of staff.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess large data sets for informed decision-making.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $100,000 - $110,000 per year, plus annual bonus potential and a comprehensive benefits package.
