This pivotal position will be an integral part of the facility leadership team, focusing on both safety protocols and human resource policies, providing essential guidance and support as required. It is expected that this role will allocate approximately 50% of its time to HR responsibilities and 50% to safety initiatives, although this may adjust based on organizational demands.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- A four-year degree in a relevant field related to Human Resources is preferred. A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- 2-3 years of relevant HR and/or safety experience is essential; prior experience in a manufacturing setting is advantageous.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations is required. SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred.
- Experience in full life-cycle recruitment is highly desirable.
Human Resources
- Manage recruitment processes, including job requisition creation, job postings, and advertisements, participate in interviews, consult with supervisors on candidate selection, and prepare offer letters.
- Guide employees through leave of absence procedures, overseeing the return-to-work process.
- Design and lead new hire orientation sessions to promote a positive and safe approach towards the company's goals, vision, mission, and values. Ensure timely completion of new hire documentation.
- Work collaboratively with the management team and HR Director to maintain and update job descriptions.
- Assist the HR Director in evaluating compensation requirements.
- Consult with plant leadership regarding attendance and performance matters.
- Collaborate with HR Director and plant leadership on disciplinary actions and employee concerns that may lead to termination.
- Conduct stay and exit interviews, compiling data trends to communicate with plant leadership for continuous improvement.
- Represent the company in unemployment claims alongside site managers.
- Partner with the HR Director to develop and implement consistent policies and training programs that align with business needs and values.
- Provide guidance to employees at all levels regarding policies while delivering exceptional customer service.
- Work with the HR Director to analyze leadership data trends concerning overtime, turnover, and open positions affecting the plant.
- Oversee annual HR training requirements.
- Challenge behaviors and situations that do not align with our values and Code of Conduct.
- Collaborate with leaders to enhance the plant's understanding and application of our TRACK values and culture.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
- Support plant management in maintaining the Incident Management System (IMS), ensuring that incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions are executed.
- Conduct informal and formal assessments of safety programs and audits with support from plant leadership and the Safety Director, implementing necessary changes.
- Oversee safety training programs (new hire, monthly sessions, reporting, topics, etc.).
- Assist in the creation, implementation, and recordkeeping of various safety compliance programs (Emergency Action Plan, SDS/Right to Know, OSHA Log, BBS, etc.).
- Coordinate investigations of incidents and near misses, internal audits, and process risk assessments to develop effective countermeasures, ensure compliance, and minimize injuries.
- Actively participate in the Safety Committee.
- Ability to consistently exemplify the five company values - Teamwork, Respect, Agility, Creativity, Knowledge - to uphold the organizational culture.
- General knowledge of federal and state safety regulations to mitigate company risk.
- In-depth understanding and application of HR disciplines (compensation, benefits, employee relations, employee development, performance management, regulatory compliance).
- Ensure adherence to regulatory issues including, but not limited to, OSHA, Fair Labor Standards Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave, and Equal Opportunity Act. Interface with regulatory agencies, insurance representatives, and emergency personnel on safety and HR matters.
- Effective investigative skills, including root cause analysis and prevention of safety and employee relations issues.
- Ability to consult and influence decisions using sound judgment and data analysis to drive positive business outcomes and resolve complex issues.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback to employees in a factual manner; respond to inquiries or complaints with innovative solutions; and provide professional assistance when engaging with the public and co-workers, including excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Highly organized; capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Previous experience with Workday is preferred but not mandatory.
- Willingness to travel as business needs require, expected to be less than 10% for training, conferences, etc.
