Job Title: Medical Records Assistant

Join the State of North Carolina Department of Adult Correction as a Medical Records Assistant, providing critical support to our healthcare team.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with a competitive salary and benefits package. As a Medical Records Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of office and/or technical tasks to accomplish the specialized processing of medical records, documents, or materials.
  • Work in an environment with other Medical Records Assistants, maintaining effective communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely maintenance of medical records, including filing, retrieving, and updating records as needed.
  • Provide support to medical providers and vendors, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Work independently within defined guidelines, using discretion and judgment to make decisions and take actions as needed.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Documented experience performing administrative functions in an office setting, with a focus on medical records management.
  • Demonstrated experience in organization, retention, review, and filing of records, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
