Job Overview

The AVENGER is a cutting-edge, highly mobile air defense system utilized by the Army National Guard. As an AVENGER Systems Operator, you will be tasked with the operation and maintenance of this advanced surface-to-air missile system, specifically designed to detect, track, and neutralize aerial threats such as cruise missiles and low-flying aircraft.

Key Responsibilities

• Maneuver and position the AVENGER weapon system in diverse environments and locations.

• Operate and maintain the electronic, hydraulic, radar, and mechanical components of the AVENGER system.

• Conduct target engagement assessments, utilize identification equipment, and engage hostile targets.

• Manage the transportation, preparation, reloading, and resupply of missiles and ammunition.

Skills Development

• Master navigation techniques using maps, compasses, and GPS technology.

• Employ digital communication tools to receive and relay target information and engagement directives.

• Understand ammunition handling protocols.

• Learn air defense artillery tactics, techniques, procedures, and strategies for air combat.

Compensation and Training

Instead of incurring costs to acquire these skills, you will earn a salary while you train. In the Army National Guard, you will gain valuable job skills while receiving a regular paycheck and qualifying for educational assistance.

Training for AVENGER Systems Operators includes 10 weeks of Basic Training, where foundational Soldiering skills are taught, followed by 10 weeks of Advanced Individual Training that combines classroom instruction with practical field exercises.
