Job Title: Journeyman HVAC Technician

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Journeyman HVAC Technician to join our team at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The successful candidate will have experience with servicing commercial HVAC systems, chilled water systems, cooling rack air handling systems, and performing preventative maintenance programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on various types of HVAC equipment and systems, including large air handlers, chilled water systems, cooling towers, cooling rack air handling systems, hot water and steam boilers, split systems, package units, VAV systems, and variable speed drives.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain DDC controls and energy management control systems.
  • Analyze air balancing reports and perform brazing and soldering when required.
  • Log refrigerant usage in the site refrigerant usage log and operate trade-related measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments.
  • Complete all PM and record-keeping assigned to their areas of responsibility and perform maintenance on assigned utility carts.
  • Work with the MRO group to provide vendor quotes and information for ordering materials.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of commercial air conditioning experience.
  • A minimum of 3-year apprenticeship program or technical schooling.
  • Commercial air balancing certification.
  • Universal license (EPA - ).
  • EMCS/BMS experience is required (Niagara N or Siemens preferred).
  • Knowledge of computer operations and application pertinent to their field (CMMS, Microsoft applications, and email).
  • Ability to move/lift heavy objects, climb vertical ladders, and work at various heights.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and write in the English language.
  • Valid CA driver's license.
  • Ability to multi-task, be organized, pay attention to detail, be dependable, and be a team player.
  • Flexibility to work alternate schedules as necessary.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to meet customer critical missions.
  • Provide own basic hand tools.
