Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nutritionist to join our team at the Arkansas Department of Health. As a Nutritionist, you will be responsible for planning and implementing food service or nutritional programs to promote health and control disease.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement meal planning and food service systems to ensure adequate diets for patients in state, public, and private institutions and agencies.
  • Analyze patient nutritional data to determine feeding problems and diet deficiencies relative to medical problems for dietary plan development and follow-up.
  • Instruct individuals and families in nutritional principles, diets, and food selection, according to lifestyle for improved eating habits.
  • Provide technical assistance in modifying diets, writing menus, and revising dietary policies and procedures for dietary professionals and patients.
  • Conduct in-service nutritional training programs and supervise the preparation and distribution of promotional materials for maximum awareness and program effectiveness.
Requirements
  • Licensed as a dietician, or deemed eligible for licensure and registration within one year of employment, by the Arkansas Dietetics Licensing Board in accordance with ACA.
  • Education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in human nutrition, food and nutrition, dietetics, food systems management, or a related field.
Working Conditions

Frequent in-state travel is required. Must have a valid Driver's License. The office beginning and ending times may vary and include extended hours and weekend rotation during a Public Health Emergency or Pandemic.

This position will work with the WIC Program and have regular contact with professional staff, physicians, clients, and family members. Must have polite and caring customer service skills, in person and over the phone. Adequate computer skills preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs preferred. Occasional heavy lifting may be required.
