Job Description

Job Title: Early Childhood Educator

Job Summary:

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team. As a Preschool Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the lives of young children and helping them develop essential skills for future success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Educational Programs: Plan and implement daily lesson plans that provide for educational and enrichment activities for pre-school age children, ensuring compliance with federal performance standards.
  • Classroom Management: Arrange classrooms into distinctive learning areas that promote an effective learning environment, ensuring a safe and healthy space for children to grow and develop.
  • Child Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Screen and assess children to determine developmental/educational needs, develop and implement individual education plans, and monitor progress to ensure children meet federal performance standards.
  • Health and Safety: Monitor meal and snack periods, classroom and restroom activities, and playground activities to ensure a safe environment for young children, and perform health checks on children as needed.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with parents through parent conferences, written correspondence, and telephone to apprise them of child's progress, upcoming events, classroom activities, individual education plan changes, and other relevant information, and work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment.

Requirements:

  • Education: A baccalaureate or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education, or a baccalaureate or advanced degree in any subject with coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education, and experience teaching preschool-aged children.
  • Experience: Two years of experience teaching Head Start, Early Head Start, pre-school or kindergarten age children.
  • Certifications and Training: Certification in First Aid and CPR, and successful completion of a Level II background screening, local criminal record check, and drug screening prior to hiring.
