We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Student Technician to join our team in Academic and Research Technologies. As a Student Technician, you will provide technical support to campus, assisting with the configuration and installation of computer systems and peripherals, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and maintaining accurate records of work performed.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the configuration and installation of various types of computer systems and peripherals.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues reported to us through our ticketing system.
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed on tickets assigned to the Student Technician.
- Communicate effectively with clients via phone and email to resolve technical issues.
- Assist with team-wide projects, such as moving department computer equipment or replacing computers in academic computer labs.
- Be able to work 15-28 hours per week.
- Be a current SHSU student and enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours.
- Experience working with computer hardware and peripherals.
- Experience working with the Windows 10 operating system, with MacOS/iOS experience a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn new skills and observe processes, policies, and rules.
- Ability to balance work and personal life responsibly.
- Dependability, initiative, and a team-oriented approach.
- Ability to carry loads up to 50 pounds.
