Job Summary

Rothman Orthopaedics is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Front Desk Receptionist to join our team in Bryn Mawr, PA. As a key member of our front office staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
  • Verifies and updates demographic and insurance information in our electronic medical record system.
  • Utilizes our electronic medical record system to enter co-payments and notes to the Business Office.
  • Checks out and makes patient follow-up appointments with Physical Therapy Providers.
  • Handles direct scheduling duties for physical therapists, including incoming patient calls and overall schedule management.
  • Verifies and documents physical therapy and/or DME/splint benefits for all new incoming patients.
  • Ensures proper forms and clinical information is submitted to insurance companies to obtain insurance authorization.
  • Tracks authorized PT visits, unit and time limits, and informs therapists when additional visits need to be requested.
  • Creates new patient packets, including PT benefit verification forms, physical or hand therapy questionnaires, and prescriptions.
  • Utilizes our electronic medical record system to scan patient documents, including PT benefit verification forms, authorizations, questionnaires, prescriptions, and home exercise programs.
  • Collects self-pay and supply payments as indicated on our fee schedules.
  • Answers telephone calls, screens calls, takes messages, and provides information.
  • Assists patients with ambulatory difficulties and screens visitors.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area and lobby.
  • Re-supplies the front desk for the day.
  • Collects applicable insurance co-pay information and referrals.
  • Batches out and balances end-of-day payments.
  • Assists other front desk personnel in situations with irate patients.
  • Prepares all work for the next business day, including referral numbers and authorization numbers for Physical/Occupational Therapy visits and splints.
  • Prints out all related paperwork for patients' appointments with therapists.
  • Works in conjunction with the Patient Responsible team to collect past due balances.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Performs related work as required.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED minimum education requirement.
  • Minimum of one year's experience in a medical office environment.
  • Computer skills, including MS Office.
  • Knowledge of business office procedures and medical terminology preferred.
