Position PurposeThe Chief Development Officer (CDO) is responsible for driving philanthropic growth and influencing the organization's ability to impact the communities we serve. This role develops and executes a comprehensive philanthropy strategy, provides operational leadership, and fosters a culture of philanthropy across Sinai Chicago, our board, and key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Develop a compelling vision for philanthropy that aligns with the organization's mission, vision, and values.
- Create a philanthropic marketing and stakeholder strategy to build relationships and promote the organization's mission.
- Lead fundraising efforts from conception to achievement of objectives.
- Cultivate and obtain contributions from a diverse pool of donor prospects.
- Form and manage philanthropic relationships and stay abreast of system strategy and priorities.
- Collaborate with the board development committee, auxiliaries, and other organizational support development teams to support innovation and shared opportunities.
- Foster a vibrant culture of philanthropy internally and throughout the Sinai Chicago service area.
- Identify and implement best practices to drive desired outcomes and maximize return on investment (ROI).
- Track and monitor fundraising progress and report results to the board, executive leadership, and management teams.
- Masters degree in communication, public relations, philanthropic management, non-profit administration, business administration, finance, healthcare administration, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressively more responsible related work experience, including five (5) or more years of experience as a progressive leader in philanthropic or chief executive role in non-profit leadership.
- A proven track record as an effective and communicative leader of a healthcare organization.
- Ability to communicate a vision and instill associates with a sense of shared purpose.
- Advanced critical and strategic thinking skills.
- Self-starter and driven to build and grow the right long-term relationships.
- Leadership and management skills necessary to work effectively within a system, influence results, motivate individuals and teams, and resolve problems in a diplomatic professional manner.
- Excellent oral and written communication, persuasion, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to operate in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
- A personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring, with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Sinai Health System.
