Position Overview

The Rehabilitation Hospital Registered Nurse is dedicated to positively influencing the lives of patients and collaborating effectively with colleagues. This role requires a professional commitment, clinical proficiency, and a proactive approach to learning while nurturing patient relationships. The nurse will be responsible for delivering and coordinating high-quality, evidence-based care, which encompasses assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This position involves active participation in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and working alongside a multidisciplinary team to enhance the patient care plan. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Essential Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Possession of a valid Registered Nurse License in Indiana.
  • Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain it in the next available training session upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in medical/surgical or rehabilitation settings.
  • Certification as a Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN).

  • Exceptional communication skills to engage effectively with patients, families, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to perform duties professionally and manage stress effectively.
  • Advanced computer skills and the ability to learn and utilize patient care applications, electronic charting, and departmental software.
  • Outstanding customer service abilities, with a focus on patient-centered care.
  • Capacity to foster compassion and create a therapeutic environment.
  • Clinical reasoning, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate complex situations and derive appropriate conclusions.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and the protection of sensitive information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to patient needs effectively.
  • Basic understanding of infection control principles to safeguard patients and staff.
  • Capability to respond appropriately in various situations.
  • Awareness of the legal implications associated with patient care activities.
Work Environment
  • Typical clinical setting within a hospital, requiring frequent standing and walking.
  • Work may involve interruptions and occasional high-stress situations.
  • Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other infectious materials, as well as electrical and radiation hazards.
  • Proximity to patients and visitors is a regular aspect of the role.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including extended hours, holidays, and weekends as needed by the department.
  • May require rotation to other departments based on hospital needs.
Physical and Mental Demands
  • Engagement in physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, lifting, and pushing to provide patient care and operate necessary equipment safely.
  • Utilization of computers and standard office equipment.
  • May involve transporting workstations to patient rooms.
  • Assistance with patient mobility in and out of bed.
