Position Overview

The Rehabilitation Hospital Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in enhancing the lives of patients and collaborating with a dedicated healthcare team. This nursing professional is actively engaged in their practice, demonstrating clinical proficiency, a commitment to continuous learning, and a focus on nurturing patient relationships. The role encompasses accountability for delivering and coordinating high-quality, evidence-based care, which includes comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. The nurse will also engage in decision-making processes, provide education, mentor peers, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient care plans. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Essential Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Possession of a valid Registered Nurse License in Indiana.
  • Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain it during the next available training session upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in medical/surgical or rehabilitation settings.
  • Certification as a Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN).

  • Proficient in mathematical calculations and medication administration.
  • Exceptional communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities to perform duties with professionalism and manage stress effectively.

  • Demonstrated customer service skills with a focus on patient-centered care.
  • Ability to foster a compassionate and therapeutic environment.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.
  • Capacity to exercise independent judgment and discretion.
  • Adept at analyzing complex situations and deriving appropriate conclusions.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities based on patient needs.
  • Understanding of infection control principles to safeguard patients and staff.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in diverse situations.
  • Awareness of the legal implications of patient care activities.
Work Environment
  • Typical clinical setting within a hospital, requiring frequent standing and walking.
  • Work may involve interruptions and high-stress scenarios.
  • Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other infectious materials.
  • Proximity to patients and visitors is a regular aspect of the role.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • May require floating to different departments based on hospital needs.
Physical and Mental Demands
  • Physical activities include standing, walking, bending, lifting, and pushing to provide patient care and operate necessary equipment.
  • Utilization of computers and standard office tools is required.
  • May involve transporting workstations to patient areas.
  • Assistance with patient mobility is a key responsibility.
