SummaryThe primary responsibility of this role is to assess the service requirements for truck engines and components, executing the necessary maintenance, repairs, replacements, installations, or reconditioning of parts to restore the engine to optimal functionality with appropriate supervision as needed.
Key Responsibilities- At the beginning of each shift, review the work schedule, inspect equipment and supplies needed for the tasks at hand, and prepare for operations.
- Identify technical service issues related to the engine or truck equipment.
- Confirm findings, analyze readings from gauges and meters, and compare them to manufacturer specifications.
- Develop a corrective action plan in consultation with colleagues or a lead representative when necessary.
- Request or procure necessary parts from the inventory.
- Conduct diagnosis and troubleshooting, progressing in engine disassembly and reassembly under supervision (higher classifications require less oversight).
- Perform fuel systems diagnostics and repairs with guidance.
- Execute installations, replacements, and repairs of engines, truck equipment, or components promptly and according to specifications with supervision as required.
- Meet standard job expectations for established tasks.
- Test parts or equipment and conduct quality checks upon completion of work.
- Clean parts and equipment as necessary.
- Carry out general housekeeping duties as assigned.
- At the end of the shift, secure all equipment and machinery, and complete all necessary documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
QualificationsTo perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Education and Experience- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English as it pertains to this role and safety regulations.
- Must be capable of completing and passing ASE Certification.
- Must be able to utilize, or learn to utilize, the equipment and tools necessary for this position.
- Must be able to perform all job functions safely.
- Must meet the company performance standards for the role.
- Must agree to wear the appropriate assigned clothing and footwear approved for this position.
- Must have a minimum of 6 years of experience in the truck industry.
Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Lotus Notes and MS Office.

Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, depending on the site location, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment. The employee may occasionally be exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
The employee may occasionally encounter wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and the risk of electrical shock.
The noise level in some work environments may be loud.
