RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee, strategize, and coordinate engineering components of significant projects across various locations. Manage multiple concurrent initiatives while meeting established expectations and making critical decisions regarding project priorities.
  • Comprehend business requirements and possess a deep understanding of customer needs when defining project scopes. Integrate foresight regarding emerging technological trends. Lead the creation of Project Charters and document requirements that align with stakeholder expectations. Set engineering project goals and technical standards for assessing project outcomes and team activities.
  • Employ established project management tools and methodologies (FEP, Cash Flow Projections, Scope/Schedule Control, etc.) to adhere to budgetary constraints and fulfill overall project and organizational objectives.
  • Formulate project plans that outline necessary actions to define, prepare, integrate, and coordinate all subsidiary plans. Support the development of project strategies to align with key customer business goals. Contribute to the formulation of long-term business and organizational strategies.
  • Direct and manage project execution by implementing the work outlined in the project plan to achieve defined objectives.
  • Conclude projects by finalizing all activities across all Project Management Process Groups to formally complete the project or its phases.
  • Define roles and responsibilities while guiding the efforts of both internal and external resources.
  • Monitor and control project activities to meet performance objectives as defined in the project plan, focusing on cost and milestone achievements to optimize resource utilization.
  • Review change requests, manage, and approve modifications to deliverables, organizational process assets, project documentation, and the project plan.
  • Collaborate with corporate or divisional procurement for the acquisition of equipment and services, effectively managing services and suppliers.
  • Implement standardized project management tools and practices, contributing to the establishment of project management best practices.
  • Identify and mitigate risks through proactive assessments and the implementation of fallback strategies.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in project engineering, participating in internal and cross-divisional teams to develop and align procedures and standards.
  • Execute tasks such as drafting Requests for Capital Expenditures (RCEs), safety and quality checklists, and scope documents.
  • Anticipate and resolve issues and crises requiring prompt, informed decisions and swift implementation, leveraging technical expertise and experience.
  • Assist in the formulation and execution of validation protocols.
  • Engage in professional affiliations to enhance industry knowledge.

TECHNICAL DESIGN

  • Guide others in executing the design of products, processes, equipment, systems, and facilities by applying engineering principles and techniques.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, or a closely related field is preferred, or equivalent technical experience demonstrating competence.
  • Over 10 years of substantial engineering and/or operational experience. A post-graduate education/degree is preferred and may contribute to the required experience.
  • A career characterized by a consistent record of contributions and achievements. Proven ability to manage projects to completion, utilizing extensive external resources.
  • Demonstrated excellence in both breadth and depth of project management knowledge.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups within engineering and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
  • Strong listening skills and the ability to articulate one's perspective respectfully and tactfully in oral, written, and presentation formats.

  • Possess interpersonal skills necessary for negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • A technical background in healthcare, nutritional products, laboratory diagnostics, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or similar industries is preferred.
  • Proven competency with financial systems and fiscal control, including project accounting experience.
  • Understanding and management of procurement and contracting processes.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% (primarily domestic to various plants).
