Key Responsibilities

The Extrusion Maintenance Technician is tasked with the electrical upkeep, diagnostics, and repair of extrusion machinery within a vinyl extrusion facility. This role is vital in ensuring that electrical systems function effectively, minimizing operational interruptions and supporting production objectives.

1. Electrical Maintenance and Repair
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance on electrical components of extrusion machinery to ensure peak performance.
  • Identify and troubleshoot intricate electrical problems, including wiring, control systems, motors, and PLCs.
  • Replace or repair faulty electrical components using specialized tools and precision instruments.
  • Address electrical issues that impact production and uphold electrical services through planned maintenance.
2. Operational Support
  • Oversee the installation and calibration of electrical systems in extrusion equipment to align with production standards.
  • Monitor electrical systems during production to swiftly resolve any operational challenges.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations during maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in the electrical aspects of relocating and installing machinery.
  • Provide training and guidance to apprentices and junior electricians.
3. Continuous Improvement
  • Engage in root cause analysis to pinpoint recurring electrical issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Propose and execute enhancements to electrical processes to boost equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and new electrical technologies to foster continuous improvement.
  • Help develop and maintain electrical preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Execute planned maintenance tasks and provide feedback for system enhancement.
4. Safety and Compliance
  • Follow all safety guidelines to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Comply with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory mandates.
  • Conduct safety inspections and participate in training programs.
  • Identify and report any electrical activities that could pose risks.
  • Promote environmental awareness and ensure adherence to company procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace following the 5S methodology.
5. Documentation and Reporting
  • Keep precise records of electrical maintenance tasks, including work orders and parts utilized.
  • Provide comprehensive reports on the status of electrical systems and maintenance requirements.
  • Document root causes of breakdowns and electrical faults for management review.
  • Identify spare parts needs for electrical components and track usage.
  • Estimate timeframes for completing electrical tasks and the implications of delays.
6. Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all electrical work meets high-quality standards and complies with regulations.
  • Achieve company targets regarding electrical quality.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in industrial maintenance preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in maintenance roles within a manufacturing setting, ideally in extrusion.
  • Skilled in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Able to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Experience with PLCs and automation systems is advantageous.
