Key Responsibilities

The Extrusion Maintenance Electrician plays a crucial role in ensuring the electrical integrity and functionality of extrusion machinery in a manufacturing environment. This position is essential for maintaining production efficiency and minimizing equipment downtime.

Electrical Maintenance and Troubleshooting
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance on electrical systems associated with extrusion machinery to ensure peak performance.
  • Identify and resolve complex electrical malfunctions, including issues related to wiring, control systems, motors, and PLCs.
  • Replace or repair faulty electrical components using specialized tools and precise measuring devices.
  • Address electrical disruptions that impact production and uphold electrical services through Planned Preventative Maintenance (PM).
Operational Support
  • Oversee the configuration and calibration of electrical systems in extrusion equipment to align with production requirements.
  • Monitor electrical systems during production to swiftly identify and rectify operational challenges.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to facilitate smooth operations during maintenance interventions.
  • Assist in the electrical aspects of relocating and installing machinery.
  • Provide training and guidance to apprentices and junior electricians.
Continuous Improvement Initiatives
  • Engage in root cause analysis to uncover persistent electrical issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Propose and execute enhancements to electrical processes to boost equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements and electrical technologies to foster continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the formulation of electrical planned preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Execute PM schedules and planned work orders as necessary, offering feedback for system enhancement.
Safety and Compliance
  • Follow all safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Conduct regular safety assessments and participate in training programs.
  • Recognize and report any electrical activities that may pose risks.
  • Promote environmental awareness and ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Utilize the 5S methodology to uphold workplace standards.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Keep detailed records of electrical maintenance tasks, including work orders and equipment performance metrics.
  • Provide comprehensive reports on the status of electrical systems, maintenance requirements, and completed repairs.
  • Document root causes of breakdowns and electrical faults for management review.
  • Identify and log spare parts requirements for electrical components.
  • Estimate timeframes for completing electrical tasks and assess potential impacts of delays.
Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all electrical work meets high-quality standards and complies with relevant regulations.
  • Achieve company targets related to electrical quality.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in industrial maintenance or a related field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in maintenance roles within a manufacturing setting, ideally in extrusion.
  • Expertise in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automation systems is advantageous.
