Job Title: Program Assistant, China and Northeast Asia

At the United States Institute of Peace, we are committed to promoting peace and security worldwide. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Program Assistant to support our China and Northeast Asia programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide programmatic support in strategic planning, design, project implementation, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Support drafting internal and public documents, including quarterly reports and project tracking.
  • Manage documentation of events and projects, including recording developments in USIP's QuickBase and systems and SharePoint.
  • Prepare summary event and project demonstrations for USIP's executive office and other departments as needed.
  • Assist with public outreach regarding China and Northeast Asia products, particularly web and social media outreach.
  • Attend internal and external meetings with partners, taking notes and distributing them to the team as needed.
  • Build relationships and liaise with other departments at USIP as needed to accomplish tasks.
  • Develop and maintain program-related files, documents, and database records.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining policies and procedures to manage the day-to-day operations of the China and Northeast Asia programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and partners.
  • Coordinate the publications peer review process in line with publications guidelines and deadlines.
  • Provide program design, implementation, and reporting support to programs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in international relations, conflict management, or a related field is required.
  • One or more years of business or administrative experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of the China and/or Northeast Asia region is required.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use program management processes, especially project planning, budgets, and monitoring and evaluation, is required.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) are required.
  • Previous experience with databases and/or data management tools, including financial management software, is preferred.
