Position Overview:

The SMT Equipment Operator plays a crucial role in the setup and operation of machinery and tools essential for assembling printed circuit boards at the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) level.

This position encompasses the complete management of various equipment including Screen Printing, Pick and Place, Reflow, Automated Optical Inspection, Washing, and X-ray systems.

Key responsibilities also involve basic troubleshooting of machinery, inspecting boards, performing rework, managing inventory, and overseeing process efficiency. The SMT Equipment Operator is expected to engage in cross-training and fulfill additional tasks as required.


Core Responsibilities:
  • Assemble circuit boards following layout designs, bills of materials, manufacturing documentation, and work instructions to achieve IPC-A-610 Class 2 standards.
  • Conduct inspections of circuit boards to confirm compliance with IPC-A-610 Class 2 standards.
  • Utilize computers, hand tools, measuring instruments, and other relevant tools for PCB assembly at the SMT level.
  • Exhibit proficiency in all roles, operations, functions, and processes within the SMT assembly sector.
  • Execute job duties with speed, precision, and consistency in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain effective communication with colleagues in a collaborative setting.
  • Prioritize tasks to meet production targets on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Ensure organization and cleanliness in the assigned workspace.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding ESD, quality, and safety.

Physical Requirements:

This role demands:

  • Frequent use of fine motor skills, neck movement, and reaching.
  • Ability to use both hands to handle circuit boards, bins, tools, and components.
  • Occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of weights ranging from 11-50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend at the knees and waist.
  • Close, midrange, peripheral vision, depth perception, and balance.
  • Frequent transitions between sitting and standing.
  • Transporting products between assembly areas.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including extended hours.

Additional Physical Demands:

Occasional stair climbing and walking may be required.
