Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior/Principal Laboratory Support Technologist to join our System-Level Vibration Testing Laboratory team to strengthen our position as a recognized leader in the field of Structural Dynamics and help tackle some of the most complex issues facing our nation's security.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will support science and engineering research, development, and application activities in support of Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) missions. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Working with engineers to help realize ideas and designs and work together to accomplish goals.
  • Applying traditional Single Degree of Freedom and advanced Six Degree of Freedom & Multi-Input/Multi-Output vibration test techniques to an ever-changing assortment of projects.
  • Installing instrumentation in/on test articles.
  • Maintaining and operating data acquisition systems.
  • Developing, building, modifying, repairing, maintaining, and utilizing a wide variety of laboratory equipment.
  • Developing and maintaining material and process specifications to support engineering and scientific processes.
  • Assisting with data analysis, organization & interpretation of results, aid in documentation of results for customers, and support publication efforts.
  • Conceiving and implementing new solutions and improvements to the group's technical and operational procedures.

Requirements

We require a Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field and experience in one of the following:

  • Vibration Testing
  • Structural Dynamics
  • Experimental Modal Analysis
  • Noise Vibration & Harshness (NVH)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with dynamic sensors and instrumentation such as accelerometers

Experience with data acquisition system setup, operation, and maintenance

Basic knowledge of structural dynamics, particularly experimental vibration testing & analysis

Experience with MATLAB and/or Python

Experience with hazardous testing, such as explosives, and associated work planning and controls

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $70,200 - $135,400

The selected candidate's salary will be determined after consideration of their experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
