Adjunct Faculty, English as a Second Language

We are seeking a part-time Adjunct Faculty member to teach English as a Second Language (ESOL) courses at Austin Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and delivering engaging and innovative ESOL coursework that reflects a commitment to student success, equity, and diversity.
Responsibilities:- Prepare and teach ESOL courses to a diverse student population, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies and technologies.
- Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback that reflects program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
- Provide teaching and mentoring services to students in a manner that does not discriminate based on protected categories.
- Remain current in the field through professional development activities.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, and/or associate vice president, vice president, executive vice president.
- Master's degree in ESL, Linguistics, Foreign Language Education, Bilingual Education, or other Education area with at least 18 graduate or post-baccalaureate hours in ESL, Linguistics, and/or Second Language Acquisition, including 3 hours of teaching methodology.
- Ability to work in an office/classroom environment and lift up to 10 pounds.
- Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
Work is routinely performed in an office/classroom environment. The ability to work safely and follow safety rules is required. Reporting unsafe working conditions and behavior is also required. Taking reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices is expected.
