Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Ph.D. medicinal chemist to join our team at General Oncology in Newton, Massachusetts. This is a non-laboratory position with management and review responsibilities over work being done by a team of organic chemists at a major international contract chemistry laboratory.

About Us:

General Oncology is dedicated to improving healthcare through the development of innovative cancer treatments. Our clinical trial at a leading hospital in the United States is testing a new approach to treating BRCA-related pancreatic and breast cancer. We are also developing novel drugs for other cancers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Director of Research to accelerate the development of new classes of anti-cancer drugs
  • Assist in compound design and optimization of synthetic routes
  • Review and manage laboratory work related to the synthesis of compounds
  • Review analytical data and troubleshoot compound synthesis and purification
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry
  • 6+ years of industrial, post-graduate laboratory experience in the design and synthesis of complex organic compounds/drug candidates
  • Must be versed in all relevant analytical techniques, including NMR and HPLC-MS
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
