Position Overview

The Team Leader for Bloomingdale's Associates is a dynamic and proactive individual who serves as a key resource in enhancing both colleague and customer experiences. The primary responsibility of this role is to boost sales and ensure operational excellence by assisting the Store Manager and leadership team in fostering a customer-focused environment. This leader will also guide the Bloomingdale's team by mentoring, training, and developing colleagues. Proficient in all facets of sales and service culture, the Team Leader will also manage operational tasks such as merchandise handling, pricing accuracy, and safeguarding company assets. Flexibility in assisting with various functions as needed is essential, promoting a collaborative spirit that enhances the work environment for the team and ensures a delightful shopping experience for customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assumes supervisory duties for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager or leadership team.
  • Drives and surpasses performance goals by observing, coaching, and exemplifying behaviors that cultivate a welcoming shopping atmosphere.
  • Ensures team members engage with customers, creating a friendly and accessible shopping environment.
  • Trains and mentors colleagues on essential behaviors, processes, and responsibilities pertinent to their roles.
  • Delivers an exceptional shopping experience by leading work areas, assisting customers, and actively participating in customer interactions to maintain high service standards.
  • Collaborates with Store Leaders to guarantee outstanding customer service and the execution of operational tasks, including maintaining visual and merchandising standards.
  • Plans and oversees task execution within their area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrates product knowledge and effectively communicates sales promotions to the team.
  • Provides constructive feedback and guidance to colleagues as needed.
  • Assists in onboarding new hires and managing colleague performance.
  • Monitors schedules and makes necessary adjustments for time-off requests or emergencies.
  • Fosters strong partnerships with store leadership, trade area, and central partners as required.
  • Embraces technology and champions its use to enhance the customer experience.
  • Safeguards company assets by adhering to all operational and cash handling procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of customers and colleagues.
  • Resourceful and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in using various technological devices.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent use of computers and technology essential for job functions, including handheld devices and cash registers.
  • Position involves prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the store.
  • May require reaching, crouching, kneeling, and climbing ladders.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 lbs frequently.
