Job Overview

Areté Associates is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Scientist/Engineering Aide. This role will provide support to our full-time Scientists/Engineers, working on a variety of programming tasks, integration and test support, and applying knowledge to solve routine problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate, revise, update, compile, debug, and write business, scientific, or software computer programs.
  • Develop flow charts and diagrams outlining process steps in operation.
  • Develop and revise program code, prepare documentation of program development, modifications to code, and operating instructions.
  • Conduct program tests and analyze system capabilities to resolve input/output problems.
  • Research, design, develop, and verify signal and image collection systems, and define and develop processing and dissemination computer algorithms.
  • Develop requirements analysis, system architecture, and integrate new signal and image capture and processing technology systems.
  • Design, develop, and analyze systems for the extraction of information from sensors.
  • Collaborate with functional business units to drive business solutions and direction.
Requirements
  • Enrolled in a bachelor's or higher in physical sciences, computer science, data science, or mathematics.
  • Experience with scientific programming in Python, C, C++ or similar languages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate on small teams.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • U.S. citizenship is required to meet position eligibility.
  • Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Successful passage of a criminal background screen is required to meet position eligibility.
  • Successful passage of a Department of Transportation (DOT) drug test is required to meet position eligibility.
