Individuals in this classification operate at a senior professional capacity, responsible for establishing and overseeing adherence to tax regulations, compliance mandates, and County statutes.

Responsibilities include engaging in discussions and correspondence with taxpayers, franchisees, and their representatives regarding audit findings and issues; interpreting and resolving technical challenges that arise during the auditing process; compiling comprehensive audit reports; and researching applicable tax laws, regulations, and County ordinances pertinent to the audits.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in financial examinations of external entities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
2. Maintain effective communication, both verbal and written, with audited parties to verify the accuracy of records and reporting, while gathering necessary information.
3. Prepare, review, and confirm the precision of auditing and reporting tasks related to assigned functional areas.
4. Execute various critical record-keeping responsibilities; manage and uphold audit documentation and filing systems.
5. Address inquiries and concerns, ascertain the nature of requests, and resolve issues personally or direct them to the appropriate individual or department.
6. Perform additional duties as required that are related or logically assigned to the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient understanding of tax accounting and auditing methodologies.
- Familiarity with diverse tax regulations.
- Competence in the examination and review of tax returns and supporting documentation, as well as in determining and recommending suitable corrective measures.
- Ability to independently conduct and finalize complex audits of corporate, partnership, and individual taxpayers and franchisees.
- Understanding of the various types of records maintained by businesses, partnerships, and individuals.
- Capability to identify and assess violations of non-compliance with tax laws, regulations, and County ordinances, and to articulate significant irregularities to taxpayers and franchisees.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience in auditing, tax regulations, compliance requirements, or County statutes; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. A degree in Accounting or Finance may substitute for experience.

Physical Requirements:
SEDENTARY
- Lifting of up to 10 pounds maximum.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling (up to 1/3 of the work time).
  • Some occasional walking or standing may be necessary.
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sounds accurately.
  • Good eyesight for ensuring safety and productivity.
