Contribution to Mission: Under the guidance of the Store Manager, the Retail Operations Supervisor will assist in the daily management of store activities. The role is essential for ensuring the effective and economical operation of the Goodwill store, maximizing profitability, and enhancing training opportunities. The Supervisor is responsible for the stewardship of the store, ensuring it supports the development and placement of individuals served.
Organizational Structure: This position is a full-time, hourly management role within the Retail Operations team. The Supervisor will collaborate with the Store Manager to oversee daily store functions and foster the growth of team members, clients, and volunteers. This role will also identify avenues for personal and professional development for employees in alignment with Goodwill's mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute assigned duties and management tasks in partnership with the Store Manager, adhering to our Guiding Principles:
- Deliver exceptional customer service
- Ensure facilities are clean, organized, and safe
- Maintain a store filled with fresh inventory
- Utilize data analytics to enhance performance
- Input data into a centralized system for tracking
- Operate a computer-based register system
- Perform basic financial calculations for cash handling and reporting
- Conduct store audits and implement necessary changes
- Manage product logistics, including sorting, pricing, and stocking
- Train, supervise, and develop team members in accordance with Goodwill policies
- Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Manager with daily operations.
Additional Duties:
- Provide backup training for labor scheduling and timecard preparation
- Report transportation and maintenance needs to the Store Manager
- Ensure the store's branding, image, and security align with agency policies
- Order and maintain supplies securely, following budgetary guidelines
- Promote a positive experience for customers and donors
- Oversee the proper handling of incoming donations according to Goodwill policies
- Facilitate store meetings and communicate agency directives to team members
- Ensure timely rotation of apparel and goods in line with Goodwill's policies
- Accurately complete statistical counts and financial reports as required
- Stay informed about product knowledge, industry trends, and competitive pricing
- Perform necessary janitorial tasks
- Exhibit the ability to multitask and make quick decisions in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
- Maintain punctual and reliable attendance
- Engage in Goodwill events and activities beyond routine responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel between sites
- Ability to pass skills and knowledge assessments
- Successful completion of drug tests and background checks.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

Physical requirements include the ability to twist, bend, squat, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, and pull. The employee must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and team lift or use equipment for items over 40 pounds.
The work environment is primarily indoors, with occasional exposure to outdoor temperatures and allergens, including dust and animal dander. The noise level is moderate.
