Program Chair Role Overview

The Program Chair is a full-time leadership position at the School of Nursing, responsible for overseeing curriculum, student, faculty, and program development activities. This role involves strategic planning, program growth, and development, ensuring alignment with current standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the program for positive outcomes, growth, and development according to current standards.
  • Participate in program development initiatives, such as grant writing and scholarship opportunities, in collaboration with the Director.
  • Work closely with the Director to ensure compliance with state and national standards (BRN, CCNE/accreditation, AACN, NONPF).
  • Hold responsibility and accountability for program-related budget and spending in collaboration with the Director.
  • Ensure curriculum development, revision, and evaluation according to program learning outcomes, state, and national standards.
  • Measure and monitor program quality through student evaluations and faculty input in collaboration with the Director.
  • Engage in the student admissions process and recruitment of a qualified, diversified, and balanced student body.
  • Play a key role in hiring, mentoring, evaluating, and supporting faculty for the program in collaboration with the Assistant Dean.
  • Engage in teaching part-time for the program, according to workload, SON, CEHS, and TUC policies.
  • Maintain relations with clinical agencies, affiliate organizations, and preceptors as appropriate.
  • Hold regular faculty meetings/workgroups within the department.
  • Collaborate with the Program Administrator for key program tasks and projects.
  • Support IPE development/curriculum for the program and at the College and University level.
  • Engage in appropriate committees across CEHS/TUC as the program lead.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Manage Faculty workload and course assignments.
  • Monitor and Evaluate Faculty course performance.
  • Oversee total Student clinical hour/project completion.
  • Maintain personal and professional development as an educator, clinician, and leader for the program.
  • Maintain clinical experience as appropriate to the role.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS (the Education, Training, and/or related experience needed by the person to perform the job).

  • Doctor of Nursing (DNP) Degree Preferred.
  • Master of Science in Nursing or higher degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program required.
  • A minimum of 2(two) years cumulative clinical experience as an NP in the applied specialty (FNP, PMHNP, Pediatric NP, Womens Health NP etc.).
  • A minimum of 2 (two) years of teaching experience at the graduate level preferred.
  • At least one year of recent clinical and/or teaching experience in academic nursing.
  • Must hold an active and unencumbered NP license in the state of California.
  • National certification as an FNP and/or PMHNP.

Salary

Maximum Salary: USD $120,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary: USD $96,000.00/Yr.
