Wound Care Specialist Nurse

Position Summary
The Wound Care Specialist Nurse is responsible for delivering exceptional care aimed at preventing and facilitating the healing of skin integrity issues for residents, as identified through comprehensive assessments and tailored care plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Report any changes in residents' skin integrity to the Director of Nursing or designated personnel.
- Engage in educational sessions and training related to skin care practices.
- Administer wound dressings and ensure timely changes as per medical directives.
- Track the healing progress of wounds and suggest modifications to treatment plans when necessary.
- Conduct and document weekly assessments of pressure ulcers, including measurements.
- Liaise with family members and attending physicians regarding skin care issues affecting residents.
- Maintain documentation on Weekly Focused Skin Assessments, sharing findings with relevant facility staff during quality assurance and care planning meetings.
- Occasionally assist with other nursing duties as requested by the Director of Nursing or Administrator and participate in the facility's nursing on-call rotation.
Qualifications
Educational Background
- Completion of a nursing program from an accredited institution is required.
Licensing Requirements
- An active RN or LVN license in the state of Texas is mandatory.
- Wound Care Certification is preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Prior experience in a skilled nursing environment is advantageous.
Physical Requirements
