Are you a digital native from Generation Z with a passion for fashion, cultural trends, and style? Do you want to see your creative ideas and insights influence clothing designs that could be featured in major retail outlets? If so, Avalon Apparel is eager to collaborate with you on their national "Fashion Board".

Avalon Apparel is a comprehensive women's clothing design firm located in Los Angeles, specializing in the creation and production of private label apparel for some of the largest retailers in the United States. You may already own a piece from brands like Nordstrom, Macy's, or Target that originated from an Avalon design.

The "Fashion Board" initiative was developed by Avalon to connect with potential apparel consumers, ensuring that the designs offered to retail partners align with customer preferences. What began as a modest concept has now grown into a national program, continuously seeking to broaden its reach across diverse customer demographics. This is where your contribution becomes vital.

Avalon is on the lookout for enthusiastic candidates from universities nationwide to take on the role of "Fashion Board" interns, assisting in the creation of designs that resonate with consumer desires.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage actively on our social media platforms, particularly Instagram, where we conduct daily polls on outfit choices such as "this or that" and "love or hate" to gather immediate feedback for our design teams.
  • Share your favorite fashion inspirations and trends discovered on social media each week.
  • Participate in our GroupMe discussions, providing your insights on trends and designs.
  • Complete design-related surveys when requested.

Qualifications:

  • A strong interest in fashion and apparel.
  • Familiarity with current trends, pop culture, and influential figures in the fashion industry.
  • Active presence on social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, etc.) for fashion inspiration.

The estimated commitment for this internship is approximately 5-10 hours per month, conducted entirely online. This position is unpaid and does not offer college credit. However, it comes with exciting perks, including monthly raffles, surprise gifts, and the chance to network across various functions such as design, merchandising, and production, providing valuable insights into careers within the retail merchandising landscape.

This internship is open to students from any major, though it may particularly appeal to those pursuing degrees in Business, Marketing, Retail, Fashion Merchandising, or Fashion Design.

In addition to your resume, we request that you complete a brief project that showcases your understanding of Gen Z fashion, allowing us to gauge your style and perspective. This project can take the form of a collage, Pinterest board, PowerPoint presentation, or any other creative format you prefer. Please submit this project in PDF or PowerPoint format along with your resume.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and we ask for a minimum commitment of 3 months, with the possibility of extending your involvement, which is highly encouraged.

Selected candidates will be invited to participate in a screening interview.
