The OpportunityWe are seeking a highly skilled Medical Care Specialist to join our team as a Phlebotomist in our Ballard, WA location. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional patient care by performing venipuncture services, dispensary responsibilities, and other clinical support services.
You will be an ambassador for patients in office, with a mastery of human connection and a strong drive for service. Your excellent communication skills and ability to remove barriers to care will result in a truly exceptional in-office patient experience.
This role requires a strong team player who can use their innovative problem-solving skills to tackle various tasks and challenges. You will combine excellent specimen collection technique with tactful interpersonal skills during every interaction with your patients.
Responsibilities- Provide best-in-class venipuncture services on a population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Perform and assist with extended scope duties such as non-blood specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs
- Maintain high standards of in-office care through proper specimen labeling, handling, and processing, inventory upkeep, and tool sterilization
- Dispensary responsibilities include verifying counts, maintaining inventory, placing orders, receiving and stocking, filling, packaging, and labeling prescriptions for patient pick-up
- Continue to care for our members beyond the lab room by answering patient messages, following up on lab cases, and assisting our providers and virtual medical team with clerical duties
- Use impeccable C-I-CARE framework in all patient interactions and ensure a fluid and positive in-office experience through patient intake, same-day schedule management, appropriate follow-up scheduling, strong knowledge of billing and insurance, monitoring patient feedback, and assisting with outreach as necessary
- Assist our senior patients by performing other administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, sending faxes, and coordinating transportation for patients
- Contribute to team development through rounding, attending team huddles, participating in team problem solving, supporting in-office providers with ad hoc asks, etc.
- Perform opening and closing duties/daily office upkeep as required, including maintaining the look and feel of both patient and employee-facing spaces, restocking supplies, and organization
- An active phlebotomy certification to practice in WA and at least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of a training/externship environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency in computer technology such as typing, navigating the internet, and using multiple software systems simultaneously
- Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams (additional experience with remote teams a plus)
- A proven ability to display confidence and instill trust during the collection process while delivering individualized, human-centered, customer-focused care
- A proven track record of persisting through change, consistently stepping up to take action on challenges, and learning quickly and effectively when faced with new situations or tasks
We offer a competitive salary starting at $26.25 per hour based on a full-time schedule. Please note that this is a full-time role with 8-hour shifts generally taking place between 8am-5pm in Ballard, WA. Flex Lab Services Specialists lend support to multiple One Medical locations in a market and location and schedule are subject to change.
