The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an expert clinician who may practice in a specialty area while functioning as a resource to other staff and departments. The CNS demonstrates expertise in education, mentoring, consulting, research, evidence-based practice, management, and systems improvement. The CNS influences outcomes by providing expert consultation to all care providers and by implementing improvements in health care delivery systems.

Required Qualifications:
- Master's Degree from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC)
- Ph.D. from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
- Currently enrolled in a Master's, DNP, or Ph.D. clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC)
- Equivalent coursework and experience will be considered (Example: Masters in Nursing or Doctoral degree in Nursing that did not major in the CNS role, such as those that are in Nursing Administration or Nursing Education)
- Upon hire: Washington Registered Nurse License
- Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
- 3 years registered nursing experience in area of specialty
Preferred Qualifications:
- Upon hire: Current certification as a CNS
- Upon hire: Current certification in area of specialty
- 2 years clinical leadership responsibility

About the Team
Providence has been serving the Pacific Northwest since 1856 when Mother Joseph and four other Sisters of Providence arrived in Vancouver, Washington Territory. Today, Providence is the largest health care provider in Washington located in communities large and small across the state.
