Description

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an expert clinician who may practice in a specialty area while functioning as a resource to other staff and departments. The CNS demonstrates expertise in education, mentoring, consulting, research, evidence-based practice, management, and systems improvement. The CNS influences outcomes by providing expert consultation to all care providers and by implementing improvements in health care delivery systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC)
  • Ph.D. from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
  • Currently enrolled in a Master's, DNP, or Ph.D. clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC)
  • Equivalent coursework and experience will be considered (Example: Masters in Nursing or Doctoral degree in Nursing that did not major in the CNS role, such as those that are in Nursing Administration or Nursing Education)
  • Upon hire: Washington Registered Nurse License
  • Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
  • 3 years registered nursing experience in area of specialty

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Upon hire: Current certification as a CNS
  • Upon hire: Current certification in area of specialty
  • 2 years clinical leadership responsibility

About the Team

Providence has been serving the Pacific Northwest since 1856 when Mother Joseph and four other Sisters of Providence arrived in Vancouver, Washington Territory.
