The OpportunityWe are seeking a Head of Category to join our team on a Full-Time, Permanent basis. This role will be responsible for leading a suite of dedicated multi-million categories, including end-to-end ownership of strategy, market insights, and risk management. The successful candidate will have 4 Direct Reports and 12 indirect reports.
Key Responsibilities- Align Procurement activities with operating priorities
- Coordinate across Procurement teams to ensure business unit updates, insights, and recommendations
- Engage and drive strategic relationships with category critical suppliers
- Develop and lead comprehensive category strategies for the Business Unit
- Accountable for the development and implementation of procurement strategies and execution of procurement priorities
- Provide strategic and commercial insight, supply chain sustainability insight, and supply chain risk mitigation recommendations
- Ensure rigorous management of contracts throughout their lifecycle
- Lead a highly motivated, innovative, and value-focused team
- Previous procurement experience, delivering category excellence
- Ability to communicate dynamically at all levels within National Grid and externally
- Experience in building high-performing teams and driving strategic change
- Good understanding of broader business objectives and implications of strategic planning and actions
- Expert influencing and negotiation skills to drive optimum value through commercially sound contracts
- Relationship management experience, driving commercial value and performance through major contracts
