The Opportunity

We're seeking x3 Heads of Category & Procurement Business Partners to join our team on a Full-Time, Permanent basis. This role is a key part of our Net Zero goals, driving commercial value and performance through major contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Align Procurement activities with operating priorities, working closely with Executives.
  • Coordinate across Procurement teams to ensure business unit updates, insight, and recommendations.
  • Engage and drive strategic relationships with category critical suppliers, implementing vendor and contract management strategies.
  • Develop and lead comprehensive category strategies, providing market capability and capacity intelligence.
  • Accountable for procurement strategies and execution, securing supply, managing supply chain risks, and achieving sustainability objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring continuous improvement, security of supply, and value delivery.
  • Ensure rigorous management of contracts throughout their lifecycle, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Lead a highly motivated, innovative, and value-focused team, developing talent and a performance management culture.
Requirements
  • Previous procurement experience, delivering category excellence across multiple category areas.
  • Ability to communicate dynamically at all levels within National Grid and externally to senior leaders within supplier organizations.
  • Experience in building high-performing teams, driving strategic change through category intelligence.
  • Good understanding of broader business objectives and the implications of strategic planning and actions within the category.
  • Expert influencing and negotiation skills to drive optimum value through the award of commercially sound contracts.
  • Relationship management experience, driving commercial value and performance through major contracts.
  • Degree level or relevant professional qualification such as CIPS or equivalent experience.
