Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Critical Care Nurse Practitioner to join our MICU/CTICU APP team at SSM Health Care System. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care, education, and consultation services to nursing and ancillary departments.

Responsibilities
  • Medical Interventions: Initiate and provide medical interventions in response to acute changes in patient conditions, ensuring timely and effective care.
  • Education and Consultation: Provide educational services to nursing and ancillary departments, serving as an educational consultant on clinical practice issues and promoting evidence-based practices.
  • Collaboration and Continuity of Care: Apply evidence-based practices to achieve multidisciplinary collaboration, facilitating continuity of care and optimizing patient outcomes.
  • Staff Satisfaction: Contribute to the satisfaction of the medical staff by collaborating with physicians to deliver best care, promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Change Agent: Recognize and utilize opportunities to act as a change agent, introducing nursing practice innovations that improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Evaluation and Improvement: Evaluate nursing practices associated with specialty area, define needs/problems with patient care, and make constructive suggestions that create a positive patient outcome.
  • Work Environment: Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team.
Requirements
  • Education: Completion of a formal post-basic education program from or formally affiliated with an accredited college, university, or hospital, or a graduate degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in the appropriate advanced practice nursing clinical specialty area.
  • Certification: Board certification by a national recognized certifying board in the appropriate population focus.
  • Licensure: Current or compact RN license in the appropriate state, and appropriate APRN license or document of recognition in the appropriate state.
  • Experience: One year of experience in a relevant field.
Physical Requirements
  • Communication: Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Physical Activity: Constant standing and walking, frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs, frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Sensory Requirements: Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more), and to identify and distinguish colors, frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors, frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Occasional Requirements: Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs, occasional lifting/moving of patients, occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements, occasional driving, rare crawling and running.
