Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at New York Cancer & Blood Specialists. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our medical staff in providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measure and record patients' vital signs, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Sterilize medical equipment and instruments, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
  • Provide assistance to physicians during examinations, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Collect and process lab specimens, ensuring accurate labeling and handling.
  • Perform phlebotomies (blood draws), maintaining patient comfort and safety.
  • Administer EKGs, accurately recording results and communicating with medical staff.
  • Record accurate patient information, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
Requirements
  • A Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma, with at least 1 year of experience in a medical setting.
  • Bilingual, English/Spanish speaking preferred, with excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Word/Excel, with the ability to learn new software and systems.
