Job Description

At S.P. Richards Company, we are seeking a highly analytical Pricing Analyst to support our pricing strategy with a focus on sales and margin improvement. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with Sales, Merchandizing, and other departments to develop new analytical tools and capabilities that will drive pricing strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Retrieve, transform, and analyze data from multiple platforms and processes to visualize price performance and areas for improvement in price, margin, and market share.
  • Evaluate large business proposals and identify margin enhancement opportunities.
  • Understand our various contract structures and competitive market conditions, and provide ongoing analysis of their impact on our margins and sales.
  • Convert business strategies into mathematical algorithms in our PROS pricing software.
  • Influence and manage internal relationships to achieve agreed-upon price and margin objectives.
  • Advise and influence Sales Leaders towards optimal pricing strategies for their books of business.

Requirements:

  • Highly analytical with the ability to solve complex business problems using advanced data analytics techniques.
  • Understanding of pricing, finance, and business profitability concepts.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams on business process enhancements.
  • Ability to influence internal stakeholders and drive organizational change.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or STEM fields.
  • 1-2 years of experience in the office products industry or pricing role.
  • Advanced experience with Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot.
  • Advanced experience with data transformation/data cleansing software, such as Alteryx, or SQL.
  • Experience with data visualization software, such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Experience with pricing software, such as PROS, Zilliant, Price FX, Vendavo.

Language Skills:

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to managers and clients.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, margin variances, price realization.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with multiple variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

This position requires up to 15% of travel.
