This position reports to the Director of Student Success at LRCC. This is a year-round position working part time 25 hours per week.", "ACCOUNTABILITIES": "
  • Provides general academic advising and success strategies to prospective, non-matriculated and other LRCC students helping them identify, define and achieve their educational goals.
  • Regularly follows-up with students and monitors progress during the term resulting in the development of a plan that transitions students to the selected program and appropriate faculty advisor, as well as other supports on campus, such as those offered by Student Success Center.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential records of advising sessions with prospects and current LRCC students.
  • Collaborates with all student service departments on campus (i.e., admissions, financial aid, registrar's office, disability services, Student Success Center) to provide seamless access to services they provide, for students requiring additional support.
  • Works collaboratively with department chairs, program coordinators and faculty to stay up to date with programmatic and/or curricular changes and to ensure advising follows current program requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with off campus social service agencies and other providers and refers students when necessary.
  • Follows up with students who have not continued their attendance at LRCC gathering data about their experiences and facilitates their return when appropriate.
  • Represents student support services on college committees and at college functions.
  • Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with major study in counseling, education, behavioral science, or a related field.
  • Experience: Two years' experience in student services, academic or career advising/counseling, or student support within a higher education setting.
