This role is situated within the Center of Excellence (CoE) of the CTO North America (NAM) Organization, focusing on delivering specialized knowledge in Electronic Components to the broader organization. The selected candidate will collaborate with various teams across different business units and expertise groups, leveraging extensive knowledge in electrical and electronic product design as well as component selection.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary resource for inquiries and interests related to Electronic Components design, selection, and qualification.
- Provide mentorship and training to product design engineers to enhance their skills in this domain.
- Emphasize ECSQ (Electronic Component Selection and Qualification), CSRM (Component Selection and Risk Management), and BOM (Bill of Materials) Review processes.
- The candidate will:
- Deliver expertise from the definition of electronic components to their final evaluation, including design, verification, and validation.
- Advise product design teams on Electronic Component selection to ensure quality and supply chain resilience.
- Act as the NAM region liaison with the TSM (Technology Standardization Management) organization concerning Electronic Components.
- Support and elevate NAM electronics resources to achieve excellence.
- Lead initiatives within the organization and act as a thought leader with a comprehensive understanding of processes that impact business and customer outcomes.
- Guide product design teams in electronic component selection in line with various SE policies and best practices.
- Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and suppliers to uncover opportunities for innovation, quality enhancement, and cost efficiency.
- Contribute actively to Technical Excellence.
- Influence technical direction in anticipation of offer creation and impact bricks, platforms, or methods across the organization.
- Significantly affect Schneider Electric's business, offerings, and technologies.
- Utilize appropriate tools to model and analyze electronic components based on various performance criteria, supporting testing and validation efforts as needed.
- Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team of product owners, hardware engineers, and electro-mechanical engineers to ensure a holistic system approach.
- The ideal candidate should:
- Master the strategic technology domain of Electronic Components, actively developing and implementing related innovations and expertise.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of our offerings to facilitate technical interactions with end-customers and resolve offering issues.
- Regularly engage with an international and multi-organization technical community, extending to a cross-functional network (Quality, Supply Chain, etc.).
- Actively contribute to the development, sharing, and capitalization of knowledge and expertise.
This position demands a degree of autonomy and a proactive approach to advanced research topics, where critical thinking is essential. The following qualifications are required:
- BS or MS in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with over 10 years of industry experience in electronics design utilizing various components.
- Extensive knowledge of electronic component selection to satisfy diverse technical and supply chain criteria.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., CAD, PDM, PLM, etc.).
- A solid understanding of Electronics design (analog, digital, power electronics, etc.).
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., RoHS, REACH).
- Ability to network, collaborate, influence, and persuade within a matrix organization, driving change.
