Role Summary:
The primary responsibility of this role is to proficiently set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machining and grinding equipment, ensuring adherence to proper machining and grinding practices while meeting quality and productivity standards in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including composite/steel-toed footwear and ANSI-approved safety eyewear at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace, identifying and addressing any unsafe conditions.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications, understanding standard notes, symbols, and instructions relevant to the work.
  • Initiate and conclude operations of various grinding machines, including CNC and PLC-controlled systems, following established safety protocols and company procedures.
  • Set up and operate numerically controlled (NC, CNC, PLC) lathes and grinders.
  • Execute machining and grinding tasks on a range of components, often with complex specifications, ensuring operations are conducted within established parameters to minimize waste and rework.
  • Read and interpret various engineering and quality specifications.
  • Utilize practical knowledge of machinery to make necessary adjustments to optimize machine performance.
  • Monitor numerical displays on control panels, comparing them with process sheet data to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and machining speeds.
  • Conduct inspections on components using precision measuring tools.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • A two-year technical degree in manufacturing technology is preferred, or one to three years of experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of shop mathematics and proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CNC machine operations, tool offsetting, and basic programming.
  • Computer literacy is essential, with the ability to read process drawings and understand geometric tolerances and engineering specifications.
  • Physical capability to operate heavy machinery and perform various tasks safely.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and maintain mobility throughout the workday.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization.
