Position Overview:
The primary responsibility of this role is to efficiently set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machining and grinding centers, ensuring adherence to proper machining and grinding techniques while meeting quality and productivity standards in a safe and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Wear composite/steel-toed shoes and ANSI-approved safety glasses with side shields at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, identifying and addressing unsafe conditions.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications, understanding standard notes, symbols, and instructions related to the work.
  • Start up and shut down various grinding machines, including CNC and PLC controls, following established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Set up and operate numerically controlled (NC, CNC, PLC, and other manual machines) lathes and grinders.
  • Perform machining and grinding operations on complex parts, ensuring operations are conducted within established parameters to minimize scrap and rework.
  • Read and interpret engineering and quality specifications.
  • Utilize practical knowledge of machines to make necessary adjustments to override machine control and enhance performance.
  • Monitor numerical displays on control panels, verifying dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and machining speeds.
  • Conduct inspections on parts using precision measuring instruments.
  • Engage in continuous improvement (lean) activities as assigned.
  • Complete other duties and assignments as required.
    Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Two (2) year technical degree in manufacturing technology preferred or one (1) to three (3) years of machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of shop math and proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
  • Thorough knowledge of CNC machine operation, tool offsetting, and basic machine code.
  • Computer literacy is essential, with the ability to read process drawings and understand geometric tolerances.
  • Physically capable of operating heavy machinery and performing routine tasks.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform various physical activities safely.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to effectively lead and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in computer use and understanding of technical documentation.
